Texas Longhorn riding steers for
sale!
From time to time I will
have one of my steers for sale, or I will want a project and go buy one to
work for a while then post him for sale. I normally know where you can get a
riding steer if you don't see what you like on these pages. If you are looking
for a well broke riding steer cheap, good luck. Most of the time when a riding
steer is good, the family that broke him keeps him. There are rare cases when
a good one comes up for sale due to illness or divorce or something like that.
Most of the time that's not the case. Good riding steers are kept for ever.
All of our steers I have
either acquired from a very young age (before weaning) or they were born here.
I do not follow the industry standard on bottle feeding. I do not take in a
calf if I can't afford the amount of milk and time he will take to grow both
physically and mentally to his best potential. I have a custom feed that all
my riding steers are started on and that feed is adjusted to their individual
needs through out their growth. When they are put under saddle the feed is
changed to allow them to use extra energy, and still grow strong bones and
joints. One of the largest problems faced by steers and oxen is their knees
can't hold up the weight of their huge bodies as they mature. The feed my
calves are fed until they are sold or die ( of old age) is made so that they
will always be fontanel, and healthy for many many years.
People ask why my steers are
so high priced.
#1) you can trust them to be
what I say they are. They are all registered in the IRSA and ITLA. They have
proof on their certificates of what they have proven they have done. Its not
just my word, its proof.
2#) The cost of raising these
calves from start to weaning is astronomical. However you can raise a calf on
the industry standard 4 pints of milk replacer a day, with the big bellies,
dull coat and short span of use this will cause, or I can spend the money and
time now to have that same steer last for an average of 15 yrs longer. After
the age of 2 they will be fine on just grass and never need further extra
care.
3#) I may train them in my
back yard, but Im not a back yard trainer. This isn't a project my kids drug
home and I thought it would be fun to try it. I use tried and true methods
that will ensure you not only safety, but years of enjoyment.

health paper exam, and guarantee that animals are healthy at time of sale.
Please plan to pick up your
animal with in a reasonable amount of time. According to Iowa law after 30
days your animal is considered abandon. I will hold animals longer only if you
have made arrangements to pay board. Please note deposits are not
refundable.

Overwhelmer x Flying S Liberty
Legacy was broke to ride as a 2yr.
He has been shown and won many year end Grand champion awards from the
ITLA He is groomed and handled daily but has
not been ridden in 2yrs. Thus his price. Legacy is being sold as halter
broke, gentle, comes when called, loads, grooms, bathes, but is not being sold
as broke, you will have to re-start him. the hard work has been done, but he is
not a ready to go to the local parade steer at this time. Legacy has been to
fairs, and shows with allot of commotion, he is safe around traffic, tractors
etc. Legacy is sold AS IS...

Able
Black and white Texas Longhorn steer
calf for sale
Able goes back to some really
great cattle. He is half Butler, and an own grandson of Quill. Able has
awesome size, large bone, temperament and a great pedigree to back it all up.
Able is already coming when called, eating out of my hand etc. Able was made a
steer and placed in halter on 11/12/07. New photos are coming soon! Able will
start buggy and saddle training this week and continue training until sold.
Able sells for 1500.00 price will change as he succeeds in his training
lessons.
The below pedigree is of
Able's full sister. His papers aren't back from the ITLA yet. This is his
exact breeding also.
